DePaul University Hosts the 2021 Actuarial Research Virtual Conference

As many CAS members know, actuaries are often involved in acts of service for their communities, be it actuarially related or not! To highlight our members’ community service outside of the workplace, the CAS is launching our very own Actuaries in Community Month!

Registration for Fall 2021 CAS Exams, MAS-I, MAS-II, 5, 6-Canada, 6-International, 6-US, and 8, will open on June 15, 2021.

2021 Honorees include Arizona State University, Brigham Young University, Georgia State University, University of New South Wales

The 2021 Hachemeister Prize has been awarded to the paper “AGLM: A Hybrid Modeling Method of GLM and Data Science Techniques” by Suguru Fujita, Toyoto Tanaka, Kenji Kondo, and Hirokazu Iwasawa. The Hachemeister Prize is awarded annually to ASTIN Bulletin or ASTIN or AFIR Colloquium paper(s) based on several criteria but with emphasis placed on the paper's impact for North American actuaries and its practicality of application.

Streamlining the CAS governance structure, better leveraging of volunteers for their subject matter expertise, and increased empowerment of the CAS staff are among the changes resulting from an evolving volunteer-staff model framework adopted by the CAS Board of Directors.

Mallika Bender, FCAS, MAAA, has joined the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) as the organization’s first Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) staff actuary.

CAS admissions staff recently presented on the transition to computer-based testing and grading at the Association of Test Publishers (ATP) virtual 2021 Innovations in Testing Conference, April 27-29, 2021.

The CAS is seeking volunteer mentors to participate in our 2nd annual Student Central Summer Program, an eight-week interactive professional and educational experience for university students spanning June 14 thru August 6th.
