The Actuarial Review is the bimonthly magazine of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Articles and opinions are copy edited by the AR Working Group and CAS staff. Opinions are reviewed by a subgroup of the ARWG.
Submitting Your Work
- Submit your article in a Word document via email to AR@casact.org.
- Submission Type: Feature articles, columns, letters to the editor, career news, obituaries.
- Word Count: 700-3,000 for feature articles and most department columns; 700 to 1,500 for opinion pieces (ViewPoint department); no more than 250 words for letters to the editor and career news. The CAS reserves the right to edit items for length.

Timeline
- Submission to Receipt Acknowledgment: 1–7 days
- Response to author: 2–8 days
- Review/Copyediting: 1–7 days
- Author Review/Approval: 1–3 days

The E-Forum is the nonrefereed, online journal of the Casualty Actuarial Society. The CAS is not responsible for statements or opinions expressed in the papers in the E-Forum. These papers are not peer reviewed by any CAS Committee.

A CAS Monograph is a comprehensive, long-form, peer-reviewed work on a single aspect of property-casualty actuarial science that is primarily educational in nature. CAS Monographs contribute to the body of literature that forms the foundational knowledge of actuarial science. Several CAS Monographs have been adopted into the syllabi of CAS Exams.

Variance is the peer-reviewed journal of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Variance publishes papers that explore original practical and theoretical research in property-casualty actuarial science. Membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society is not required to submit papers to the journal, and submissions by nonmembers are encouraged.

Working Papers reflect ideas or concepts that are still being developed and for which authors invite discussion. As such, Working Papers are considered works in progress. Discussions of Working Papers are encouraged and will be posted on the website along with the papers. With feedback on the papers, authors can modify and prepare papers for submission to publications. Both CAS members and nonmembers may submit Working Papers.
