The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and Society of Actuaries (SOA) recently hosted the first Be An Actuary Month, an initiative designed to inform high school students about the actuarial profession as a career choice.
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is proud to host one of the premier international academic conferences in the actuarial community - the 57th Actuarial Research Conference (ARC).
Diversity in Action Magazine recently featured Amber Rohde, FCAS, and CAS DE&I Staff Actuary Mallika Bender, FCAS, in their March-April issue. The issue covers women in finance; readers can find Rohde and Bender on page 44 and 45, where women who find success in accounting and actuarial fields are profiled.
The upcoming April/May exam sitting will introduce a new essay response question type. In addition, we will now have questions that use more spreadsheet functionality; however, knowledge of specific spreadsheet formulas will not be required.
The CAS is pleased to release the Winter 2022 E-Forum, which includes a report of the CAS Machine Learning Working Party titled “Machine Learning in Insurance.” This edition also features two submissions in response to the 2021 Call for Ratemaking Essays, conducted by the CAS Ratemaking Working Group.
The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Ratemaking Working Group (RMWG) is pleased to extend a call for discussion papers on ratemaking topics, with a goal to facilitate the publication of accessible and practical papers on ratemaking topics.
As many CAS members know, February is National Black History Month – a month honoring the contributions and legacy of Black people throughout U.S. history. To celebrate and share stories from CAS’s Black members and community, the CAS ran the BHMxCAS campaign throughout the month of February.
The Exam Working Group needs volunteers for question writing for Exam 6U. Question writing will take place over the next 2 months. No travel is required, although there is an in-person summit if interested.
