The 2023 Hachemeister Prize has been awarded to the paper “Ensemble distributional forecasting for insurance loss reserving.” The Hachemeister Prize is awarded annually to ASTIN Bulletin, ASTIN Colloquium or AFIR Colloquium paper(s) based on several criteria but with emphasis placed on the paper's impact in the actuarial community and its practicality of application.
In recognition of outstanding leadership and efforts within the insurance industry developing solutions for authenticity, inclusion and diversity, the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) has been honored with the 2022 Diversity and Inclusion Industry Champion of the Year award from Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS). GIS is the industry’s premier collegiate talent pipeline, serving over 5,000 students and 25,000 alumni from a growing network of over 100 colleges and universities throughout North America.
The Casualty Actuarial Society yesterday announced the winners of the first-ever CAS Hacktuary Challenge, a contest designed to showcase the actuarial skill set in developing novel risk engineering solutions. Entrants were challenged to create an end-user application that would be actuarially grounded but address a risk management problem of relevance to a typical consumer. The challenge also required that all code for the application be made publicly available on the CAS’s GitHub site.

The New Members Award is given annually to one or more members of the CAS who have made significant volunteer contributions within five years of their most recent credential.  
Have you worked with a CAS volunteer who performed far beyond what was expected of him or her? Consider nominating them for one of the following volunteer service awards.
After a great deal of consideration, the Hachemeister Prize Task Force opted not to award the prize this year.
Nominations should identify an individual who has made significant personal contributions, and describe how their contributions have helped the advancement of casualty science and practice.
The CAS is now accepting applications for the 2022 CAS University Award Program, a prestigious recognition program created to honor universities that prepare students for a career in the property and casualty insurance industry in innovative and exemplary ways.
