How are regulators addressing algorithmic bias and fairness in insurance rating today, and what can we expect in the future? This webinar will explore these questions with regard to recent regulatory activity in the United States and Canada. We will begin by sharing insights from a survey of U.S. regulators, conducted for CAS Research Paper Series on Race and Insurance Pricing, Regulatory Perspectives on Algorithmic Bias and Unfair Discrimination. We’ll highlight state regulatory activities to-date, regulators perceptions of commonly used Auto rating factors, and their expectations of insurers with regard to potential algorithmic bias. Second, we’ll preview a forthcoming paper on Canada’s evolving regulatory landscape related to algorithmic bias and fairness in insurance rating, and discuss how these rules may impact Canadian Insurers.
