About This Event

This webinar is 60 minutes.

This webinar is complimentary to non-North American audiences in the CAS.

The India motor insurance market is currently undergoing changes to a large distribution channel.  Automobile dealerships in India act as Motor Insurance Service Providers (MISPs).  In this role dealerships sell insurance policies and act as distributors.  Major automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) influence these dealers as they act as MISPs.  Around January 2020 two major OEMs were penalized by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for not adhering to the MISP guidelines originally outlined.  We will review the historical context of this channel and what the future might hold for MISPs and OEMs in India.

Key Messages

The effective detariffication of OEM dealerships will be incredibly exciting to behold. As the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) requires OEM dealerships to give insurers more pricing freedom, how will all corners of the market react?

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how the OEM channel operates in India.
  • Learn how the regulators are changing the landscape.
  • Learn where this channel is headed in the future.
