About Our Speakers:

Jonathan Fesenmeyer

Jonathan Fesenmeyer FCAS CSPA, is a Technical Actuary at Allstate Insurance Company with 15 years of personal lines experience in pricing, actuarial methodology development, and predictive modeling/machine learning. Jonathan is currently leading Allstate’s analytical technology enablement efforts for the actuarial group, empowering actuaries to efficiently and effectively use tooling and platforms typically associated with data science, engineering, automation, and AI roles. In this session, Jonathan will discuss how a non-traditional background in server/network administration along with natural curiosity were complementary in creating unique opportunities and key capabilities for the enterprise that expand well beyond the traditional actuarial skillset.

Kyle Wurtz

Kyle Wurtz, ACAS, CSPA, is a Technical Actuary at Allstate Insurance Company with 11 years of commercial and personal lines pricing experience. Kyle has spent the last five years building and refining Allstate’s telematics rating plan models as well as enabling better decision-making through innovative data pipelines and analytics. Telematics and usage-based insurance are still relatively new sectors of the insurance industry, and they pose unique challenges that demand creative problem-solving and non-traditional thinking. In this session, Kyle will discuss how integrating lessons from non-traditional domains — such as computer science and ultrarunning — has proven valuable in shaping Allstate’s telematics programs.
