Reflecting on the Recent Exam Sitting: Progress, Challenges, and Our Path Forward

CAS thanks all candidates, and the many employers, members and volunteers who support them, for their participation in the April 2025 exam sitting. Each exam administration provides an opportunity to reflect on what went well and identify areas for improvement, and the April sitting offered valuable insights on both fronts.
Improvements in Study Kit Fulfillment
This was the first sitting under our new association management system (AMS), which launched in January. As we navigated the system in a live exam cycle for the first time, we encountered administrative challenges with study kit processing and fulfillment.
We know this affected some candidates and appreciate your patience. New internal processes have since been implemented to help ensure a smoother experience moving forward. We do not anticipate future delays and disruptions in study kit fulfillment.
A Positive Exam Administration
This sitting marked a strong operational success overall. CAS delivered 4,555 exams to candidates worldwide. Less than 1.4% of candidates filed a grievance with the CAS, a rate that reflects continued progress in our efforts to provide a stable and reliable testing experience.
A Challenging Results Release
While exam delivery went smoothly, this was the first sitting using a new system for reporting scores. As we worked within this updated environment, we encountered unanticipated challenges.
As a result, some candidates were able to access their score reports before they were finalized and officially released. We recognize the disruption this caused and acknowledge that the experience fell short of expectations. Candidates are reminded that only official CAS email communications should be relied upon to determine when exam results are considered final and complete. All results that were delivered were correct and are final.
We also heard from candidates that there is a strong desire for a more transparent and predictable results release process. That feedback is important and will help shape our future approach to releasing results.
Post-exam summaries for each exam are now available on the CAS website, and exam statistics will be published in the coming weeks.
Results Release - What We’re Doing Next
We are actively reviewing the challenges that occurred during the recent results release and are focused on building a more reliable and transparent process. While the long-term approach to results release is still being evaluated, here’s what candidates can expect in the near term:
- Advance Notice (August MAS Sitting Only): For the upcoming August sitting of MAS-I and MAS-II, candidates will receive at least one week’s notice before pass/fail results are released. At that time, we will also communicate whether score reports will be available or if their release will follow at a later date.
- Greater Consistency: We are working toward a more consistent and predictable timeline for releasing results.
- System Improvements: We are continuing to refine the new system to support timely delivery of both pass/fail results and full score reports.
We appreciate your patience as we navigate these changes. Your feedback has been clear: timely results are essential. Addressing that is a top priority.
Thank you for being part of the CAS community and for holding us to a high standard. We’re listening, learning, and committed to improving the candidate experience.
Sincerely,
CAS Office
