New Exam 6-Canada Resource: Enhanced Practice Items and Solutions

The CAS is pleased to announce that a limited number of practice items are now available for CAS Exam 6C: Regulation and Financial Reporting (Canada). These practice items can be accessed on the CAS website on both the Exam 6C landing page and the exam resources landing page.

Similar to the previously released Exam 5 Practice Items, these downloadable resources are provided in Excel format and are composed of retired questions from recent exam administrations developed by the Exam 6C Working Group. Each practice item features a question tab and an answer tab; the answer tabs now include additional item and answer narratives to better support exam preparation. These enhancements reflect feedback from candidate focus groups held this past fall. 

Answers now include the following (enhancements indicated in bold and with *):  

  • The item itself
  • An example of a full-credit answer*
  • A short narrative explaining why the answer earns full credit*
  • 1 to 4 common pitfalls or mistakes in responses*
  • Total points
  • Item type (constructed response, matching, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • The domain aligned with the item
  • The task(s) aligned with the item
  • Reference(s) aligned with the item
  • Item origin (retired from an exam vs. developed for practice)*
  • Exam administration reference (e.g., Fall 2025)*
  • Selection criteria (why was this item chosen? Commonly missed, new content, new item type)*

Additional practice items and Grader Insight Videos are expected to be introduced for other exams over time, with releases occurring on a rolling basis. A limited number of practice items for Exam 7 are planned to be released by the end of May 2026.
