NAIC CASTF Requests Comments on Model Review Manual Exposure Draft

The Casualty Actuarial and Statistical Task Force (CASTF) of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has issued an exposure draft of its Model Review Manual for a public comment period through July 25, 2025.

The Model Review Manual is designed to assist state insurance regulators in evaluating complex predictive models used in insurance products. According to the draft, the manual “is intended to guide NAIC Staff to assist insurance regulators in the state’s review of predictive models. The aim is to provide a consistent and documented review of complex predictive models used in insurance products while providing appropriate speed to market.”

A redlined version of the exposure draft is available under the “Exposure Drafts” section on the CASTF website. Stakeholders are encouraged to review and comment on the proposed guidance.
