Arlington, VA – November 12, 2020 – Jessica Leong, FCAS, an insurance industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience, began her term as the president of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) today in conjunction with the 2020 CAS Annual Meeting.

Leong has been actively involved with the CAS for over two decades, having earned her Fellowship in 2006. She has taken on various leadership roles within the organization, such as serving on the CAS Board of Directors from 2013 to 2016 and as chairperson of the Casualty Loss Reserve Seminar Joint Program Committee from 2012 to 2013. Leong has served on the CAS International Member Services Committee, the CAS Reserves Committee, the CAS Professional Education Policy Committee, the CAS Strategic Planning Committee and the CAS Leadership Development Committee.

“I am thrilled to become president of this prestigious organization,” Leong said. “The Casualty Actuarial Society has been the premier educator of property and casualty actuaries for over 100 years, and the CAS continues to expand its presence both in the United States and globally. With big data transforming the property and casualty insurance industry, there is tremendous opportunity for CAS members to turn data into insights and provide value within the industry. This is the backbone of our new CAS strategic plan.”

Leong is currently the lead data scientist at Zurich North America, with previous experience at Guy Carpenter and Milliman. Her areas of expertise include data and analytics, reinsurance and enterprise risk management.

Katherine Antonello, FCAS, executive vice president and chief actuary at Employer Holdings in Reno, Nevada, assumed the role of president-elect of the CAS. Antonello has just completed a three-year term on the CAS Board of Directors and has served on the CAS Risk Management Committee and the CAS Member Advisory Panel over the last 7 years. This is the second time in CAS history that both president and president-elect positions will be held by women.
