Actuaries vs. Underwriters: Behavioral Scientist Explains the Age-Old Battle

In the keynote address, cognitive bias expert Dr. Gleb Tsipursky, chief executive officer of Disaster Avoidance Experts, used the language of behavioral science to explore actuarial work. Tsipursky explained some of the various challenges facing actuaries, including communicating risks to underwriters and CEOs, and how those can be interpreted and addressed through a behavioral science framework.

How Amazon Thinks About Auto Insurance for Delivery Service Partners

This session featured CAS Fellows from Amazon, DoorDash, Cruise and INSHUR exploring “Emerging Risks in Mobility.” Topics included Amazon’s delivery service providers (DSPs) and logistics programs; considerations for DoorDash’s risks for various services; risks for Cruise automated vehicle technology; and insurtech challenges and solutions with INSHUR.
