CAS Participates in the 2024 ANÉA-ASNA Convention

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) was proud to be a Diamond Sponsors of the 2024 ANÉA - ASNA Convention, the premier gathering for actuarial students in Canada. This year's event, held in Montreal, saw an unprecedented turnout, with over 700 students and 300 industry professionals in attendance.


The CAS participated in a variety of activities throughout the conference:


CAS Luncheon and Keynote Address: CAS President Frank Chang, FCAS delivered an interactive Keynote Address on redefining the actuary during the CAS-sponsored Luncheon.

Career Fair: The CAS hosted a booth in the exhibit hall where participants could learn more about the P&C career path. Thank you to everyone that stopped by as well as the CAS volunteers Guillaume Benoit, FCAS, Simon Sidorenko, FCAS, Martin Menard, FCAS, and Daniel Viau, FCAS, who provided valuable insight and knowledge to students about their experience in the P&C field.

CAS-Organized Sessions: The CAS organized two educational sessions: "Risk in Flames: Navigating the Impact of Wildfires in the Property and Casualty Insurance Industry" presented by Erika Schurr, FCAS and Todd Orrett, FCAS, and "Marijuana Decriminalization and Auto Risks: A Chronic Problem?" presented by Ken Williams, FCAS. These sessions took a deep dive into emerging issues affecting the P&C industry.

Professional Panel: David Mamane, FCAS represented the CAS during the professional panels on Friday. David and other panelists fielded questions from students and discussed their professional journeys.

The CAS sincerely thanks all of the dedicated volunteers for their invaluable contributions, which enhanced the experience for student attendees. Founded in 1989, the Actuarial Students' National Association (ASNA) has served over a dozen universities since its inception and has offered numerous professional development opportunities to the Canadian actuarial community. Their primary vision is to inspire and educate the next generation of actuarial leaders through a wide variety of unique opportunities at the national level.
