CAS Offers Employers Discounted P&C Essentials Program for Interns
The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is pleased to announce expanded employer access to discounted pricing for the CAS P&C Actuarial Essentials Program for summer 2026 interns.
Originally offered exclusively to CAS Employer Network Representative (ENR) organizations, CAS is now extending discounted access to all employers interested in providing their summer interns with foundational exposure to the property and casualty (P&C) actuarial profession.
Through August 1, 2026, employers may register summer intern cohorts in the CAS P&C Actuarial Essentials Program at the discounted student rate of $49.50 per participant.
This initiative reflects the CAS’s ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of actuaries by helping employers provide meaningful professional development opportunities for interns exploring actuarial careers.
Organizations interested in offering the program to intern groups are encouraged to complete the designated request form, after which the CAS will follow up directly with invoicing details.
Questions regarding enrollment may be directed to Tamar Gertner, CAS Director of Engagement, at tgertner@casact.org.
About the CAS P&C Actuarial Essentials Program
The CAS P&C Actuarial Essentials Program is an on-demand learning experience designed to provide a clear, structured introduction to the property and casualty insurance industry and the work of P&C actuaries.
Built from the core curriculum of the CAS Student Central Summer Program, the program expands access to foundational actuarial content through a flexible, self-paced format available year-round.
Designed for university students, interns, early-career professionals, and career changers exploring actuarial science, the program introduces participants to:
- Foundational insurance concepts
- Pricing and reserving
- Data visualization and predictive modeling
- Introductory Excel skills
- Core actuarial terminology
The program includes approximately eight hours of video-based instruction with integrated knowledge checks throughout, allowing participants to progress at their own pace.
Participants who complete the program earn a certificate of completion that demonstrates engagement with the P&C actuarial career path and readiness to continue learning through CAS credentials.
Additional information and registration details are available at Casact.org/actuarialessentials.
About the CAS Employer Network
The CAS Employer Network serves as an important forum for collaboration between CAS and employers of actuaries. The network provides a structured, ongoing way for employers to stay connected to CAS initiatives while sharing perspectives that help inform credentialing, education, professional development, and employer engagement across the actuarial profession.
Participation in the Employer Network begins with the designation of an Employer Network Representative. More information can be found on the CAS website, including the nomination form.
