CAS Credential Gains Approval from NAIC and IAA

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is proud to announce that its updated syllabus and credential structure have received official approval from both the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the International Actuarial Association (IAA).

The NAIC has confirmed that the ACAS designation—when accompanied by completion of Exam 6U and Exam 7—continues to meet the qualification requirements for Appointed Actuary roles in the United States. This affirmation ensures ongoing recognition of CAS credentials in U.S. financial regulatory requirements and reinforces the CAS’s commitment to preparing actuaries for critical responsibilities in financial reporting and reserving.

This follows recent approval by the IAA, which confirmed that the CAS syllabus aligns with the global standards set forth in its Education Syllabus and Guidelines. As a Full Member association of the IAA, the CAS is required to maintain an education program that meets or exceeds international actuarial standards. This approval underscores the CAS’s global credibility and the flexibility of its curriculum to meet both U.S. regulatory requirements and international expectations.

These approvals reaffirm the CAS’s dedication to delivering a rigorous, relevant, and globally respected actuarial education pathway.
