CAS Celebrates 10 Years as a Sustaining Partner of Gamma Iota Sigma

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary as a Sustaining Partner of Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS), the international professional fraternity for students interested in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science. Sustaining Partners are recognized industry leaders who shape the future of insurance through multi-year commitments to support GIS’s mission to develop a strong and diverse talent pipeline.
Over the past decade, the CAS has worked closely with GIS to provide students with valuable opportunities to learn, engage, and grow within the property and casualty actuarial field.
CAS works with student members of GIS at local chapter meetings, regional events, and at the Annual GIS International Conference. Through career panels, networking events, and more, CAS members and volunteers have assisted in shaping meaningful experiences for students exploring actuarial careers.
Some highlights of the long-term partnership with GIS have included presentations at the Annual GIS International Conference, hosting career development opportunities, supporting the creation of actuarial-focused programming for GIS members, and engaging with members and students through CAS Student Central.
Throughout the partnership, CAS staff have helped shape GIS’s growth through various leadership roles, including service on the GIS Board of Trustees, Advisory Council, Professional Association Council, and Nominating Committee, among other contributions. In 2024, both Mike Boa, Chief Communications Officer, and Tamar Gertner, Director of Engagement, were honored for their dedication with the GIS Service Award.
Working with GIS has been instrumental in advancing the CAS’s mission to foster a dynamic, high-achieving P&C actuarial pipeline. To the students, staff, and GIS community — CAS thanks you for a decade of collaboration, engagement, and shared goals.
