CAS Announces 2026 Volunteer Award Winners

Volunteer Recognition

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is proud to recognize the recipients of the 2026 CAS Volunteer Awards. These outstanding volunteers have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and commitment while helping strengthen the CAS and advance the property and casualty actuarial profession. 

The recipients will be recognized during the 2026 CAS Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, in recognition of the lasting impact of their volunteer service to the CAS and the profession. 

New Member Award 

The New Member Award recognizes emerging leaders who have made meaningful volunteer contributions within five years of earning their most recent CAS credential. The 2026 recipients are: 

  • John McGinn, ACAS – For leadership of the Annual Meeting Working Group and development of the Annual Meeting program. 

  • Emily Miske, FCAS – For contributions to candidate experience initiatives, mentoring, and outreach to the actuarial profession. 

  • Alyaa Nuval Othman, FCAS – For leadership within ARECA, APAC university outreach, and advancing international CAS engagement. 

  • (Puxuan) Shine Wang, FCAS – For leadership of the CAS AI Primer, contributions to the AI Working Group, and volunteer project management. 

  • Juntao Zhang, FCAS – For leadership in open-source actuarial innovation, ActSim development, and CAS research. 

Above and Beyond Achievement Award 

The Above and Beyond Achievement Award recognizes volunteers whose exceptional leadership, innovation, and service have had a significant impact on the CAS. The 2026 recipients are: 

  • Daniel (DJ) Falkson, FCAS – For Actuarial Review thought leadership, content creation, and volunteer recruitment. 

  • Louise Francis, FCAS – For developing CAS educational courses on generalized linear models (GLMs). 

  • Amit Kumar Gupta, FCAS – For leadership of SAMENA (South Asian, Middle Eastern, North African), university outreach, and expanding the CAS's regional presence. 

  • Daniel Jaeger, FCAS – For leadership in finance, governance, and investment policy modernization. 

  • Michael Mancuso, FCAS – For leadership in examinations, mentoring, university engagement, and candidate development. 

  • Craig Sloss, FCAS – For advancing machine learning education, thought leadership, and CAS research initiatives. 

  • Alisa Walch, FCAS – For leadership in academic engagement, the CAS Academic Summit, and student program advocacy. 

Matthew Rodermund Memorial Lifetime Service Award 

The Matthew Rodermund Memorial Lifetime Service Award honors volunteers whose sustained service has had a profound and lasting impact on the CAS and the actuarial profession. The 2026 recipients are: 

  • Chris Monsour, FCAS 

  • Jim Sandor, FCAS 

  • Rob Walling, FCAS 

The CAS congratulates the 2026 Volunteer Award recipients and thanks them for their extraordinary service and dedication.
