CAS Announces 2025 Volunteer Award Winners

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is proud to recognize the recipients of the 2025 Volunteer Awards. These exceptional individuals have demonstrated outstanding commitment, leadership, and service - strengthening our community and advancing the actuarial profession. 

New Member Award 

This award celebrates emerging leaders who have made meaningful volunteer contributions within five years of earning their most recent credential. Congratulations to the 2025 New Member Award honorees: 

  • Jessica Ackley, ACAS 2022 – For impactful work with the Candidate Advocate Working Group and APA Task Force 

  • Josh Meyers, FCAS 2023 – For key contributions to the AI Fast Track initiative 

  • Sandra Maria Nawar, FCAS 2024 – For editorial contributions to the Actuarial Review 

  • Rehan Siddique, FCAS 2021 – For driving CAS International engagement and activities 

Above & Beyond Achievement Award 

This award honors volunteers whose recent contributions have far exceeded expectations. The 2025 Above and Beyond Achievement Award goes to: 

  • Louis-Philippe Caron, FCAS – For exceptional service across multiple volunteer groups 

  • Melissa Huenefeldt, FCAS – For leadership within the Professionalism Education Working Group 

  • Jamie Mills, FCAS – For advancing the work of the Ratemaking, Product and Modeling (RPM) Seminar Working Group 

  • Terry Robinson, ACAS – Awarded posthumously for dedicated efforts with the Reinsurance Working Group 

  • Jaris Wicklund, FCAS – For strategic support of the University Engagement Advisory Working Group 

  • Janet Yang, FCAS – For fostering international collaboration through ARECA and other global initiatives 

 Matthew Rodermund Memorial Service Award 

Named in honor of longtime CAS volunteer Matthew Rodermund, this award recognizes members whose volunteer service has spanned decades and left a lasting impact on the organization. The 2025 recipients are: 

  • Sean McDermott, FCAS 

  • Jim Merz, FCAS 

These awardees embody the spirit of CAS volunteerism - dedication, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. Their contributions help shape the future of the profession and inspire others to get involved. 

Join us in celebrating these outstanding volunteers at the 2025 CAS Annual Meeting this November in Austin, Texas. Their achievements will also be featured in an upcoming issue of the Actuarial Review.
