Call for Presentations - 2026 CAS/AICT Joint Property/Casualty Actuarial Seminar
August 24, 2026 | Taipei, Taiwan
Submission Deadline: May 25, 2026
The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Actuarial Institute of Chinese Taipei (AICT) invite you to submit a presentation proposal for the 2026 Joint Property/Casualty Actuarial Seminar.
This seminar brings together actuarial professionals from Taiwan and across the Asia region to share insights, explore emerging issues, and advance actuarial practice in property and casualty insurance. We welcome proposals from practitioners and thought leaders interested in contributing to a dynamic and globally relevant program.
Topics of Interest
The Seminar Planning Task Force is seeking presentations on a range of current and practical topics, including:
Advancing Credibility Frameworks in Experience Rating
In accordance with the Taiwan Department of Insurance (DOI) mandate for annual rate adequacy inspections, insurers must rely heavily on their own internal loss data. However, traditional credibility measurements, often cantered on claim frequency, frequently categorize low-frequency lines, such as auto theft insurance, as non-credible despite significant earned exposure. We are seeking presentations that demonstrate practical ways to apply credibility in experience rating for these portfolios, including alternative credibility models and robust statistical methods that better balance sparse frequency with substantial exposure.
Pricing Dynamics and Operational Strategy in Travel Insurance
Outbound tourism in Asia is a primary growth engine for insurers, yet maintaining profitability remains challenging due to complex pricing variables. Actuaries must model diverse risks, including climate volatility (extreme weather), geopolitical instability, and capacity constraints (overbooking during peak periods).
We are seeking speakers to share end-to-end pricing approaches and sustainable operating strategies for travel insurance. Topics may include advanced actuarial modelling, portfolio and risk controls, and practical mitigation techniques that can help convert rapid growth into consistent profitability.
Presentation Details
- Speakers in the past have presented in English, Mandarin, and a combined format (e.g., slides in one language, oral comments in the other).
- Lengths of these sessions are typically 45-50 minutes including Q&A.
- Speakers are encouraged to have their employer’s support on the travel cost. The seminar registration fee will be waived for speakers, and we invite you to participate in the entire seminar.
Selection Process
The Seminar Planning Task Force will evaluate submissions based on relevance, originality, and practical value to the intended audience. The Task Force reserves the right to select and refine presentations to best meet the educational objectives of the seminar.
Proposals must be submitted by May 25, 2026.
