Be a Voice for CAS Candidates: Apply to Join the Candidate Advocate Working Group

The CAS Candidate Advocate Working Group (CAWG) is seeking candidates who are actively engaged in the exam process and interested in improving the candidate experience. Serving as a Candidate Representative is a unique opportunity to share your perspective and contribute to initiatives that support others on the path to CAS credentials.
About the Role
Candidate Representatives are active members of CAWG and contribute to the Future Fellows editorial board. They provide valuable feedback on candidate-focused projects and ensure that the perspectives of those currently pursuing CAS credentials are represented.
Recent and upcoming CAWG initiatives include:
- CAS Exam Answering & Grading Insights Videos
- Admissions communications targeted to candidates
- Feedback on Priorities of the Admissions Governance Committee
- Score Report Enhancements
- Candidate Survey (scheduled for summer 2026)
Eligibility and Commitment
Applicants must be current CAS candidates who have sat for at least one CAS exam in the two years. If you do not meet this requirement but are still actively pursuing the credential, you may apply with a brief explanation.
Selected representatives will serve a two-year term and are expected to participate in:
- Bi-monthly virtual meetings
- An annual in-person or virtual meeting
- Occasional ad-hoc meetings as needed
- Email-based discussions as needed
If you hold the ACAS or FCAS designation and are interested in volunteering with CAWG, you may indicate your interest through the Volunteer section of your CAS profile.
How to Apply
Submit the following materials by September 30, 2025:
- A completed online application
- A letter of reference from a CAS member or current CAWG member (this letter should confirm your professionalism and involvement in the property-casualty actuarial field, as CAWG may occasionally discuss confidential matters)
- A current resume
Selected candidates will be notified in October. Terms begin in November 2025.
