APA-Based Updates to October 2026 Content Outlines for Exams 5–9

The CAS is pleased to announce the release of updated content outlines for the October 2026 administration of Exams 5–9. These can be found on the individual exam pages, below the April/May content outlines. The changes made to the content outlines are a result of the recent Actuarial Professional Analysis (APA), a comprehensive effort that gathered input from members, candidates, and other stakeholders. The updates reflect varying levels of changes across the exams, including enhancements to tasks and references. These revised content outlines will be in effect beginning with the October 2026 exam sitting. Candidates participating in April 2026 exams should continue using the April 2026 content outlines.  

The MAS exams are still undergoing the APA review process, and their updated content outlines will be released at a later, to-be-communicated date. There are no updates for the 2026 Summer, Fall, or Winter MAS exam content outlines at this time. Any updates to the MAS content outlines will be communicated at least 6 months in advance of an administration.

We encourage all candidates to familiarize themselves with the new materials as they prepare for future exam sittings.
