2025 CAS Student Central Summer Program Concludes with Record Participation

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the sixth annual CAS Student Central Summer Program, which this year hosted students from over 32 countries. Across three program models – the Mentor-led Program, the Independent Program, and the East Asia Summer Program – over 600 students earned certificates, the highest number of graduates since the program’s launch in 2020.

Mentor-led and Independent Programs

The CAS Student Central Summer Program began during the global pandemic as a way to fill the experiential gap left by canceled internships. Today, it has grown into a signature CAS initiative that helps expand the pipeline of P&C actuarial candidates, teaching them about key concepts such as pricing and data visualization through virtual modules.

This year’s Mentor-led Program had a record number of participants, with 158 graduates spread across 29 student cohorts. Students collaborated with their cohorts on a homeowners’ insurance pricing case study, which culminated in a final program-wide case competition. Congratulations again to cohorts 10, 12, 13, 17, 23, and 26, who won their respective panels for their excellent technical analysis, presentation skills, and business knowledge.

The Independent Program, our largest track this year, allows students to progress through the same actuarial modules at their own pace. Through a dedicated Discord community, participants were also able to share ideas and build connections despite working independently. We ended the program with over 320 graduates, a significant leap in our numbers from the previous year.

East Asia Summer Program

Introduced in 2023, the East Asia Summer Program continues to expand its reach and impact. This five-week course featured lectures, office hours, and a team-based data analytics case competition, with content tailored to the region’s insurance market. This year, 117 students from 12 Asian countries successfully completed the program and received their certificates of achievement as well as their free CAS higher exam registration.

Gratitude for Our Volunteers

The continued success of the CAS Student Central Summer Program is made possible by the commitment of our members. Just this year, more than 60 volunteers contributed their time as mentors, speakers, and case competition judges. Their participation goes beyond enriching the student experience, aiding the CAS’s mission to foster and support the next generation of P&C actuaries.

The CAS extends its sincere appreciation to these dedicated members and congratulates all program participants on their accomplishments this summer. Learn more about the CAS Student Central Summer program on the CAS Student Central website.
