Why do you want to serve on the CAS Board of Directors?

I want to serve on the Board of Directors of the Casualty Actuarial Society because I remain deeply committed to the CAS’s Envisioned Future where our members are recognized globally for our P&C expertise and also to strengthen the value the CAS delivers to members, employers, and the broader public. Having previously served on the CAS Board (2014–2017), and later as VP–International (2019–2023), I have seen how effective clear strategy can help the CAS respond to a changing profession—and how important it is that the CAS keeps pace with the realities of an increasingly international P/C market.

Since my prior Board term more than a decade ago, the CAS has changed significantly, not only by more than doubling in size, but also in having to respond to a changing market for our skills or new technologies like AI while continuing to ensure that members are receiving value for their dues. At the same time, the CAS operates in an environment with increasing competition for talent and credibility—from other actuarial credentials, professional bodies and adjacent quantitative disciplines. Our progress is encouraging—but it also raises important questions about how the CAS should be listening to and serving our members both within and outside North America.

My career has given me extensive experience with actuaries and employers around the world, including leadership roles in consulting, working as a Chief Risk Officer and current positions as an Independent Non-Executive Director across multiple London Market and Lloyd’s insurers. As VP–International, I helped deliver a new, cost-effective International Strategy that expanded CAS engagement, membership, and influence globally. I have seen what employers in different markets expect from actuarial professionals and how they assess the practical value of an actuarial qualification. I believe this perspective can help the CAS sharpen its value proposition and remain competitive while staying true to its core strengths in education, research, and professionalism.

Finally, I am seeking to return because I believe I can still be useful to the CAS as it navigates its next stage of change and international growth. I bring proficiency in board operations, governance and strategic oversight along with an understanding of the international actuarial agenda. I would be honored to help ensure the CAS continues to thrive as the leading professional home for P&C actuaries.
