Picture this: You have your study materials, and you know your exam date – now all that’s left is to start studying. How are you going to carve out hundreds of hours over the next few months to get that studying in? While I don’t have a perfect answer to that question (because honestly the perfect answer likely only exists in fiction – I’m looking at you Hermione’s time turner), I do have some tips and tricks that have worked for me in the past.
As a Future Fellow, you’re likely either in your first entry-level actuarial role or you’ll shortly be in search of one. While we focus a lot on passing actuarial exams and developing technical skills in preparation for your career, don’t forget to put some real time and effort into developing your resume. Your resume is generally your entire opportunity to introduce yourself to prospective employers. Hiring managers often only take a minute or two to scan candidates before deciding whether to move them along or reject them.

The Casualty Actuarial Society is proud to present the award-winning In Focus Seminar as a virtual event, October 13, 2022 from 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM ET. This virtual seminar features four sessions, each consisting of a short presentation mixed with engaging discussions with speakers and other attendees.

The CAS conducted its first annual Volunteer Feedback Survey during National Volunteer Week in April 2022. The survey was developed in partnership by volunteers and staff on the Volunteer Resources Task Force (VRTF). The goal was to gather input from volunteers across the organization related to their experiences volunteering with the Casualty Actuarial Society, to determine strengths of the volunteer program and opportunities for improvement.
Arlington, Va. – September 8, 2022 – The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) has announced the results of its elections, with Frank H. Chang, FCAS, being named president-elect for 2022-2023. Chang will begin his term at the close of the 2022 CAS Annual Meeting in November and will go on to serve as CAS president for 2023-2024.

The CAS is thrilled to announce that 2022 Annual Meeting registration is open! This meeting will have options for in-person or virtual attendance. The in-person component will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the virtual option will include opportunities to participate in more sessions via livestream than have ever been available before.
The 2022 CAS election ballot is now available to be completed online. Voting members (Associates who have been members at least five years and Fellows) should have received an email from our online elections vendor, Skypunch Technology, with instructions for accessing the ballot.

The Casualty Actuaries of Europe (CAE) are excited to announce that we will be holding our first live event since 2019 in Zurich on 7 October 2022, hosted by SCOR. The presentation of the 2022 SCOR Switzerland Actuarial Award will be incorporated into our event. We expect the sessions to start at around 9am (with doors opening at 8am) and run through to 5pm, with plenty of networking breaks.
Please plan on joining us at the CASE 2022 In-Person Fall Meeting on Monday, October 3, 2022 for a chance to earn organized activity continuing education credits.

Conducted by Max J. Rudolph of Rudolph Financial Consulting LLC, the survey incorporated a set of Emerging Risks defined by the World Economic Forum as the basis for several of the questions.
