The exam is finally over. After taking a day or two to relax, you go online to fill out your survey. You take time to type in responses to the open-ended questions before you submit…but then what? You asked about the lined paper three sittings in a row, but nothing ever seems to change! Is anyone even reading these?
The Network of Actuarial Women and Allies was recently founded and is already taking off. I talked with the founders to learn more about this organization, why it’s important, and what their hopes are for the future.

Research Findings Identify Need for More Outreach and Mentorship Among Minority Students
The Enterprise Risk Management and Modeling Seminar for CERA Qualification is the first of two requirements of current CAS Fellows (or Associates with Exams 7 and 9) to be a credentialed CERA by the CAS. The second requirement is passing the SP9 Enterprise Risk Management Specialist Technical Exam of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. As this seminar is a requirement for the CERA designation, participants must attend the entire seminar and actively participate in the group activities in order to be credited with this component of the CERA designation process.

It’s no secret that actuarial exams are hard. In fact, that’s an understatement. For many of us, actuarial exams are one of the biggest challenges we’ll ever face. The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) has announced the results of its elections, with David Cummings, FCAS, being named president-elect for 2023-2024. Cummings will begin his term at the close of the 2023 CAS Annual Meeting in November and will go on to serve as CAS president for 2024-2025.
Following a successful return to an in-person format in 2022, the Leadership Summit will continue as a hybrid event in 2023. Chairs, Vice Chairs, Regional Affiliate officers, Vice Presidents, Staff, and others will gather to learn new skills and discuss CAS issues.
