“Understanding and Coping with the ‘New Normal’ in Insurance Inflation" explores the challenges actuaries are facing as they account for the “new normal” of recent structural social and economic changes that are dramatically altering cost trends in some property-casualty insurance lines.

On May 1, 2024, many candidates had a disrupted exam administration experience due to Pearson VUE technology issues. This included candidates who completed their exam but experienced technical issues, candidates who partially completed their exam with technical issues but who could not submit their final exam, and candidates who could not take their exam at all.
Understanding the importance of exam progress to our candidates and their employers, the CAS decided that all candidates scheduled to sit on May 1 would have the option to reschedule and sit for their exam.
The Exam 6C (Regulation and Financial Reporting, Canada) working group is looking for three volunteers to perform the role of Pre-Tester to review the exam for the Fall 2024.
A Pre-Tester may be a top performer from a recent exam sitting or other qualified volunteer and has passed Exam 6C within the past five years. We need three pre-testers for each of the following domains:

Candidates who took Exams 5, 6-United States, 6-Canada, 7, and/or 9 can expect to receive their results on Tuesday, July 23.
Results will be released between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. ET. Candidates will be notified via email when their exam results are available. Candidates will access their exam grade in the “My Exams” section of their online CAS profile. For candidates who did not pass, a grade report will be available. All exam results should be considered as final.
If you were unable to attend one of the recent live Town Halls on the Draft CAS Strategic Plan, we invite all CAS members and active candidates to watch the recorded broadcast and contribute their thoughts via an online survey. The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) jointly published a full report of findings from the 17th Annual Emerging Risk Survey along with results from a supplemental mid-year flash survey. The online questionnaires ask risk managers to rank current and emerging risks, and researchers track those rankings over time.
The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is excited to announce the winners of the 2024 CAS Trust Scholarship! This honor was created to further students’ interest in the property and casualty actuarial profession and encourage the pursuit of the CAS designations. This year, the CAS received a historic number of qualified applicants from around the world, leading to an additional scholarship being awarded. These nine recipients have showcased remarkable achievements, both academically and professionally, throughout their property and casualty actuarial journey.
