Lisa Slotznick, FCAS, began a one-year term as president of the American Academy of Actuaries earlier this month. The Academy is a national professional association of actuaries with more than 19,500 members.

Slotznick has been a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society since 1987 and has served on both the Syllabus and Examination Committee and the Financial Reporting and Analysis Committee. Slotznick has served in many volunteer roles at the Academy, including as vice president of casualty, as chairperson of the Climate Change Joint Committee and of the Committee on Property and Liability Financial Reporting, and as vice chairperson of the Committee on Qualifications. She retired after 43 years as a practicing actuary, with over 33 of those years providing advisory and audit services for insurers and self-insurers, specializing in many property and casualty exposures.
