He earned his CAS Fellowship in 2002.

James R. Weiss, assistant vice president, Crum & Foster, has been appointed as vice president-research and development. In this role, Weiss will partner with CAS staff to manage CAS activities designed to encourage and facilitate the advancement of casualty actuarial science through CAS research committees and working parties.

Weiss has been an active CAS volunteer across a broad range of areas, including service on research working parties, on a seminar planning committee, as an Actuarial Review editor, and as chair of the recent CAS Education Task Force. He has also held leadership positions with the Casualty Actuaries of Greater New York (CAGNY). He earned his CAS Fellowship in 2009 and is a Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics (CSPA).

In addition, the Board reappointed the following incumbent vice presidents:

  • Kendra Felisky, vice president-international

  • Mary Hosford, vice president-administration
  • Amy Juknelis, vice president-professional education

These Fellows will assume or re-assume their positions at the close of the 2020 Annual Meeting.
