From the CEO: New Year, New Opportunities for CAS

Dear CAS Members,

I am thrilled to officially step in as the Chief Executive Officer of the CAS as of January 1 and to help lead the organization forward into 2020 and beyond. A new year, spearheaded by new and existing leadership throughout CAS, brings a fresh perspective and a number of great opportunities. I’m incredibly excited to help lead the work on the many initiatives the CAS will be undertaking in the coming year, while instilling new and different approaches to how we achieve our goals.

Since I was hired in October, I have met many of you and have been struck by your immense energy and passion for the CAS and the actuarial profession. Rest assured that I share this passion for maintaining and enhancing the CAS and the rigorous standard our credentials represent to you and your employers.

One of the things that attracted me to the CAS is our potential. I believe the CAS has tremendous potential for growth, not only in terms of our numbers of members and candidates, but also in the markets that we serve and the value we deliver to our members. I want the CAS to stand out and be recognized as an exceptional, dynamic, and forward-looking organization in the eyes of our members, future members and the broader insurance industry. I will be challenging the CAS staff every day to move us in that direction.

At its core, anything and everything that we do as an organization will be considered in the context of what’s good for you, our members, as our success will directly stem from your success. We will continue to invest in resources to ensure we are providing you with the best possible educational, professional development, and community-building opportunities one would expect from a world-class organization.

Again, I am excited to begin my tenure as your CEO and remain humbled by the opportunity to represent such an amazing group of global professionals. I hope you will find time to connect with me, whether online through LinkedIn or at an upcoming in-person event. I plan to maintain a regular stream of communications with you and welcome your feedback along the way. My door is always open to you.

Best,
Victor
