Steven D. Armstrong Begins Term as President of the Casualty Actuarial Society

Arlington, VA – November 14, 2019 – Steven D. Armstrong, FCAS, an insurance industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, began his term as the president of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) yesterday in conjunction with the 2019 CAS Annual Meeting.

Armstrong has been actively involved with the CAS for over two decades, having earned his Associateship with the CAS in 1995 and his Fellowship in 1996. He has taken on various leadership roles within the organization, such as serving on the CAS Board of Directors from 2011 to 2014 and as vice president-admissions from 2014 to 2017. Armstrong has served on the CAS Syllabus and Examination Committee, the CAS Professional Education Committee, the CAS Ratemaking Committee, the CAS Strategic Planning Committee and the CAS Leadership Development Committee.

Armstrong is currently employed at Allstate, with previous experience at QBE North America and AIG. His areas of expertise include pricing analytics, personal lines, product and underwriting and consumer lines.

Jessica Leong, FCAS, lead data scientist at Zurich North America in New York, New York, assumed the role of president-elect of the CAS. Leong has served multiple terms on examination and professional education committees over the last 10 years. Leong also recently served on the CAS Board of Directors from 2014-2016 and on the Joint Program Committee for the CLRS Seminar as member, vice chair and chair from 2009-2013.
