Casualty Actuarial Society Names Jessica Leong as President-Elect

Arlington, Va. – September 4, 2019 – The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) has announced the results of its elections, with Jessica Leong, FCAS, being named president-elect for 2019-2020. Leong will begin her term at the close of the 2019 CAS Annual Meeting in Honolulu and will go on to serve as CAS president for 2020-2021.Leong is currently lead data scientist at Zurich North America in New York, New York. Previous roles include serving as the lead casualty specialty actuary at Guy Carpenter and as a consultant at Milliman.

Leong is a longtime CAS volunteer, having served terms on examination and professional education committees over the last 10 years. Leong also recently served on the CAS Board of Directors from 2014-2016 and on the Joint Program Committee for the CLRS Seminar as member, vice chair and chair from 2009-2013.

During her terms as CAS president-elect and president, Leong plans to apply her broad and international perspective to focus on identifying opportunities for the actuarial profession to maintain its relevance, not just today, but well into the future.

I care about the actuarial profession and want to build on our excellent foundation as highly respected and trusted professionals to help the profession thrive,” she explained. “A thriving profession means that we are making a difference. The CAS also announced newly elected Board members: Kudakwashe F. Chibanda, FCAS, MAAA, director of data science at The Hartford; Todd W. Lehmann, FCAS, CSPA, CPCU, vice president and chief actuary at Quincy Mutual Insurance Group; Mary Frances Miller, FCAS, MAAA, FCA, CPCU, ARe, AIM, founder and senior consulting actuary at Select Actuarial Services; and Kathleen C. Odomirok, FCAS, MAAA, principal at EY.

Steven D. Armstrong, FCAS, Allstate, will serve as CAS president for the 2019-2020 term.
