Data Compilations - Commercial Lines

Whether you are looking to supplement your internal data for ratemaking or studying loss data for potential new markets, ISO Commercial Lines Data Compilations can provide you with invaluable detailed reports on premiums, exposures, losses and claims.

All reports reflect the same experience ISO uses to perform loss cost reviews. Your company's actuarial, underwriting, and marketing professionals can use these reports to:

  • Conduct market research in a particular state or market
  • Analyze and compare the company's premium and loss experience with that of the aggregate for ISO-reporting companies
  • Examine average claim frequency, claim severity, and pure premium information

ISO offers experience compilations for the following lines of business:

  • Commercial auto (Liability/No-Fault and Physical Damage)
  • General liability (Premises/Operations and Products Liability)
  • Commercial fire and allied lines
  • Commercial inland marine

Experience compilations show earned exposures, written premium (if applicable), earned premium, earned premium at current level or aggregate loss costs at current level (whichever is applicable), and basic/excess limit or total limit incurred losses and claims reflecting loss development factors and allocated and unallocated loss adjustment expense. Experience compilations display five years of data. Reports are summarized in readily understandable formats that display information in the following levels of detail:

  • Commercial auto: Major class, state, coverage, territory, and class group or class(where appropriate)
  • General liability: Subline, type of policy, state, territory, class group, and class
  • Commercial fire and allied lines: Subline, type of policy, rating group, state, and territory
  • Inland marine: Classification detail

ISO will supply these compilations on these machine-readable formats: diskette, magnetic tape, 3480 tape cartridge, or CD-ROM (currently for GL Experience Compilation only).

Loss Development Reports

ISO will produce customized Loss Development Reports from its extensive database to fit your specific needs. Reports, which are available for general liability and commercial auto liability, can reflect your own company experience or the aggregate for ISO-reporting companies to help you:

  • Analyze and compare your own loss development patterns with the ISO-reporting company aggregate
  • Analyze loss reserves
  • Examine the amount of allocated loss adjustment expense (ALAE) included in the total losses

General Liability Reports display "triangles" for losses, claims, or occurrences for either claims-made or occurrence programs. Any combination of the following levels of detail and report options are available:

  • Subline: Individual sublines or several combined
  • Type of Policy: Monoline, multiline, or combined
  • State: All combined, individually, or in groups you define
  • Class: All combined, individually, or in groups you define
  • BI/PD/Other: Individual or combined
  • Loss Options: Accident or policy year; basic (can be customer-defined), excess, or total limits; paid or incurred basis; indemnity only, ALAE only, or indemnity and ALAE combined (all ALAE amounts are considered basic limits)

Commercial Auto Liability Reports display "triangles" for losses, claims, or occurrences on an accident-year basis for commercial cars or private passenger types, or on a policy-year basis for garage classes. Both bodily injury and property damage reports are included. Any combination of the following levels of detail and report options are available:

  • Major Class; Private passenger types, commercial cars, and garages
  • State: All combined, individually, or in groups you define
  • Territory: Individual or combined
  • Loss Options: Basic (can be customer-defined), excess, or total limits; paid or incurred basis; indemnity only, ALAE, or indemnity and ALAE combined (all ALAE amounts are considered basic limits)

Loss Development Reports for both commercial auto and general liability are available on paper, diskette, magnetic tape, and 3480 tape cartridge.
