Exams 1, 2, 3F and 4
Obtaining credit for these basic education requirements from the CAS is detailed below and in each individual exam syllabi.
How to Obtain Credit for Exams 1, 2, 3F and 4
Credit can be obtained for these exams by taking the exams of one of the following organizations:
- Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (U.K.)
- Actuaries Institute (Australia)
- Institute of Actuaries of India
- Society of Actuaries.
- Actuarial Society of South Africa
The CAS also recognizes the exam waivers granted by the Canadian Institute of Actuaries University Accreditation Program for Exams 2, 3F, and 4.
The CAS recognizes the preliminary examinations sponsored by the China Association of Actuaries (CAA). Credit will be granted for examinations passed or waived as a cohort for CAA exams A1, A2, A3, A4, and A7.

To obtain examination credit for Exam 1, 2, 3F, and 4 by passing exams administered by the SOA, please contact the Actuaries' Resource Center at ARC@casact.org. Please provide the following information:
- Provide the name of the actuarial organization that administered the exam
- The exam name and number
- The date that you passed
- Your full name
- Date of birth
- Contact information (including phone number and email).
For other credit options you must first sit for a CAS exam, which will establish your exam record. After that please contact the appropriate actuarial society and have them email your transcript to the Examinations Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If a candidate does not see their results online then they need to fill out the Verify Candidate's Exam Status Changes. The Actuaries Resource Centre will verify and update the candidate’s record.
