Know Before You Go to Your CAS Exam

With the CAS April/May 2024 exams approaching, we want to offer the following information to all exam candidates to help make your exam day a great success!

Please take some time to review the important resources available on the Candidate Know Before You Go page to ensure you are familiar with the necessary information to assist you in preparing for your examination day. Some new and important topics covered there include:

MAS Practice Exams

Registration is now open for the MAS Practice Exams*! Candidates who took the MAS practice exams last October performed better on their actual exams compared to those who did not; 71% of candidates who took the practice exam passed their MAS-I exam, and 80% passed their MAS-II exam. Please view the MAS Practice Exam FAQ for more details.

New Exam Question Tips

CAS Exam New Item Types FAQ

Exam 5, 7, 9 New Exam Answering

For Exams 5, 7 and 9, there will be some questions in the spreadsheet environment that require candidates to submit their final response in a specific cell highlighted in yellow for a streamlined grading process. For these questions, instructions will be explicitly included in the question. If the answer isn't input into this cell the response will still be graded.

Exam 5, 7, 9 New Exam Formatting

The exam 5, 7 and 9 questions have been reformatted so that questions that were previously listed as parts of one question will now each appear as a separate question. Therefore, the number of questions on the exam will appear higher, but the actual exam length has not changed.

New Item Type Samples (Updated April 11)

You can use the New Item Type Samples to test the Pearson VUE environment, review the new item types, and Scratch Pad functionality. For a complete overview, watch the Sample Item Video Tutorial.

Pearson VUE Spreadsheet

Included in the New Item Type Samples, as the last item presented, is a blank spreadsheet which features a recently updated toolbar. Candidates can expect to see this updated spreadsheet on all CAS exams at Pearson VUE test centers. Please review the New Pearson VUE Spreadsheet Functionality for CAS Exams for more detailed information.

Candidate Feedback and Grievances Policy

If you experience an administration irregularity (noise, technology issues, etc.) during your exam, please inform the Pearson VUE administrator as soon as the issue occurs and request a case number. The Candidate Feedback and Grievances Policy provides details on how to handle these potential issues and how to submit feedback. All candidates should review the policy in full prior to their exam.

As a reminder, all candidates will be required to review and agree to the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) acknowledging the CAS Exam Discipline Policy at the start of the exam. Please take a moment to become familiar with the policy before exam day.

If you have any questions, please email casexams@casact.org
