Volunteers Needed for Short-term Project Reading Research Papers
Volunteers are needed for a short-term project initiated by the Hachemeister Prize Committee. Help out the CAS by volunteering for a committee while also earning continuing education credit!
The Hachemeister Prize Committee oversees the awarding of the Hachemeister Prize, which awards a paper published in the previous year’s ASTIN Bulletin or presented at the previous year’s ASTIN Colloquium or Actuarial Approach for Financial Risks (AFIR) Colloquium. The award honors Charles A. Hachemeister’s contributions to Actuarial Studies in NonLife Insurance (ASTIN) and his efforts to establish a closer relationship between the CAS and ASTIN.
Papers that are eligible for the award are reviewed and judged by the Hachemeister Prize Committee. Volunteers are needed to help review and judge eligible papers. The prize is awarded at the end of May 2009, so a time commitment of approximately two months is necessary. During this time, the volunteer would be expected to read and judge approximately 10 papers as well as participate in a few teleconferences discussing the papers. Judging criteria for the papers includes impact on the practice, practicality of application, originality and completeness.
