CAS Members Honored With Awards

BOCA RATON, FL- The winner of the 1996 CAS Dorweiler Prize, an-nounced at the CAS Annual Meeting held here in November, is Clive L. Keatinge. He won the prize for his paper, "Balancing Transaction Costs and Risk Load in Risk Sharing Ar-rangements," which was published in the Proceedings of the Casualty Actu-arial Sociery, LXXX11 (1995).

The CAS Dorweiler Prize is awarded annually to the best eligible paper submitted by a CAS Associate or Fellow who attained his or her designation more than five years ago. To be eligible, the paper must show evidence of ability for original research and the solution of advanced problems.

At that same meeting, Albert J. the 1996 Matthew Rodermund Service Award to Walter J. Fitzgibbon.

Beer commented that Fitzgibbon gave "over 30 years of service to the CAS," which included more than 10 years on various committees, including audit, finance, and international relations.

Fitzgibbon also served as CAS Treasurer from 1974 to 1978, and a Director from 1988 to 1990.

The CAS Matthew Rodermund Service Award was established in 1990 in honor of Matt Rodermund’s years of volunteer service to the society, and is intended to recognize a CAS member, or members, who have made significant volunteer contributions to the actuarial profession.
