GIRO Papers Now Available
Actuaries conducting research in the general insurance arena now
have a new resource at their disposal. Over 400 papers presented at the
U.K. Actuarial Profession's General Insurance (GIRO) Conventions over
the past 30 years have been digitized and are available online at
www.actuaries.org.uk. From this page, mouse-over "Resource centre" then
click "General Insurance Convention papers archive" to access the
papers.
The archive, which includes papers from 1974 to the present day, is
searchable by author, title, and keyword, and the papers may be
downloaded completely free of charge.
David Hindley, chair of the General Insurance Board, said:
"Publication of this archive on the profession's Web site is an
extremely important step. It gives academics, students, insurance
professionals, and actuaries free and easy access to a vast corpus of
research that will doubtless prove hugely beneficial in the years to
come."
The U.K. Actuarial Profession is governed jointly by the Faculty of
Actuaries in Edinburgh and the Institute of Actuaries in London.
