Apology

An article in the November 2004 issue of The Actuarial Review requested a submission for a parody issue of the newsletter under the topic "Nonactuarial Pursuits: CAS Members Beat Their Spouses." The title was intended to suggest an article on CAS members who triumphed over their spouses at tennis, chess, Scrabble, and the like. The AR staff understands fully the serious problem of spousal abuse and recognizes, as one reader put it, that the topic "isn't funny regardless of how it is written." The AR staff regrets the request and apologizes.
