From the President: Thank You CAS Volunteers!
This week, April 15-21, is National Volunteer Week, an annual celebration observed in countries around the world to show appreciation for volunteerism. As the president of an organization that relies heavily on the work of volunteers to accomplish our goals, I can tell you that the CAS has much to celebrate!
The CAS’s continued success is due to our generous and motivated volunteers and their efficient collaboration with our outstanding CAS staff. Our volunteers allow the CAS to continue producing exceptional educational offerings, exams, university outreach programs, research, and so much more.
One out of every three CAS members volunteers. That means we have more than 2,500 volunteers working to make the CAS a stronger organization every day. That number says a lot about our organization and the community that we have built.
We are also lucky to have volunteers in our future members – candidates who offer input on the exam process and university students who serve as CAS Student Ambassadors on their campuses. Volunteers across the organization help all of our efforts come to life.
The focus of our volunteerism is for members, by members. To honor and recognize the volunteer efforts of our members, we have created two infographics that provide a snapshot at volunteer contributions in the areas of basic education and continuing education. These infographics not only demonstrate the amazing devotion our members have to giving back, they also speak to the quality of our programs, which reflect the collective wisdom and experience of practicing actuaries.
The involvement of CAS volunteers makes us a truly exceptional organization. Not just this week, but every day, I appreciate our volunteers and say thank you for the hard work you do for the CAS!
