CAS Fellows to Speak at First International Model Risk Management Conference
Two CAS Fellows will address an audience of risk professionals at the First International Model Risk Management Conference, held at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, Canada, on June 2-4, 2015. The conference will feature leading practitioners working in the areas of model development, validation, and audit or using models and their outputs.
David Oakden, FCAS, will speak at a June 3 session entitled “Model Risk Management – P&C Insurance Risk and Capital Calculation.” Oakden is an independent consultant, formerly with the Canadian Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). He will join the chief risk officer from Economical Insurance Group to address model risk management, including challenges in measuring and managing valuation and risk control/mitigation activities.
Alessa Quane, FCAS, will participate on a June 4 panel entitled “C-Level Decision Makers’ Perspectives on Model Risk Management.” Quane is a senior vice president and corporate actuary at AIG Property Casualty. She will join executives from The Canadian Depository for Securities Limited (CDS) and the Royal Bank of Canada to discuss the importance of model risk management.
