Nominations Sought for 2004 Ronald Ferguson Reinsurance Award - 02/06/04
The CAS Committee on Reinsurance Research (CORR) is seeking nominations from the CAS membership for the 2004 Ronald Ferguson Reinsurance Award. This award, which commemorates the work of Ronald E. Ferguson, FCAS (1971), Chairman of GeneralCologne Re, will be made to the author(s) of the best paper nominated for the prize.
Nominated papers should relate to actuarial research or practical actuarial application in the field of reinsurance. Papers will be judged by CORR on the basis of originality of ideas, understanding of complex concepts, contribution to reinsurance literature, thoroughness of ideas expressed, as well as whether the paper is understandable and practical. The committee's decision will be final. If no paper is considered worthy, the award shall not be made. Recipients need not be members of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
The 2004 recipient of the Ronald Ferguson Reinsurance Award will receive a commemorative plaque and a check for $2,000. The award will be presented at the June CAS Reinsurance Seminar in Boston, MA. The winner will be asked to present their paper at this seminar.
Papers eligible for the 2004 award include those published between June 1, 2003 and March 31, 2004. Nominations of papers to be considered for the award should be submitted by March 31, 2004 to Robin Gillam, Chairperson, Ferguson Prize, c/o Casualty Actuarial Society at office@casact.org.
