TO: Spring 1999 Part 6, 8, and 10 Candidates
FROM: David Menning

To help you prepare your examination strategy, I would like you to know
that there will be a section of true/false questions on the Spring 1999
Parts 6, 8, and 10. As in the past, there also will be multiple-choice
and essay questions.

Regarding true/false questions, the 1999 Syllabus of Examinations
states, “On Parts 3B, 4-10, multiple-choice questions are scored in such
a way that there is no advantage or disadvantage to be anticipated from
guessing answers in a purely random fashion as compared with omitting
the answers entirely. No additional points will be given for
multiple-choice questions left blank, but one-quarter of the point value
for each question will be deducted for each incorrect answer. On
true/false questions, the point value of the question will be deducted
for each incorrect answer.”

I wish you success on your examination.
