FW: Part 8 - anyone out there?

I have been trying to slog through this sea of paper the best I can. The
study group last year (Yes, unfortunately I was on this one last year, too)
was not a constant stream of communication, but it was out there in case
people had questions on something that seemed ambiguous or if they needed
clarification on something. I anticipate that the study group this time
around will be similar, so I guess do not be too surprised if there are not
a lot of notes exchanged.

Personally I am going through a stack of about 500-600 3x5 notecards (I have
not bothered to count them up!) and doing old exam problems. Beyond that, I
am not sure what other study tools would really be helpful for an exam of
this variety. I can think of a few tables to draw up (such as differences
between government run insurance and private run insurance and the different
characteristics of the auto involuntary plans). Otherwise, what have any of
you found to be helpful in getting ready for this exam? I am open to other
ideas, but right now I am going down the path I mentioned.

Best of luck in preparation for this one.

I was wondering the same thing. There has been some discussion in the
students section of the CAS Web-site, and there is a digest of last year's
Part 8 Studygroup's discussions in the Study Tools section. Anyway, I
found the Part 9 Studygroup helpful, and have similar hopes for Part 8.

I suggest that a common format for these e-mails will help: The author's
name should appear in the subject area, followed by a short version of the
issue. For example, Subject: Robertson - Does it ever end? or Subject:
Lorimer - Is this all it takes to be a lawyer?

This is my second real attempt at Part 8. I got a 4 in 1997, and had to
skip it last year. If I get it this time, I'll only have the Y2K-Part 8
left. Most of all, I won't have to study insurance accounting again.

Laisez les bontemps roulez.
