Loss Portfolio transfers are NOT included in Sched. F Part 2. This I am
sure of. The rest is kind of fuzzy, so if anyone can clear it up, I
would appreciate it:

My understanding is that a loss portfolio transfer is transferring loss
reserve liabilities (sometimes including case reserves) for one insured
or one captive (or other alternative insurance vehicle).

Portfoliio reinsurance is as described below from page 12-9 in IASA. It
is the transfer of a block of policies from a primary insurance company
to a reinsurer.

I think the distinction is that portfolio reinsuance comes from a
primary insurance company (gets rated in Bests, etc.) while an LPT comes
from some other type of entity. Or, is the distinction that an LPT is
written by a primary company and Portfolio reinsurance is written by a
reinsurance company?

Also, is there anywhere on Part 7 where we have to know anything about a
portfolio transfer of UEPR described below by Rasa?

There are two types of portfolio transfers. Loss portfolio
transfers are described in the IASA text and also in the
message below. A portfolio transfer of the UEPR is a cession
of the (guess what) unearned premium reserves of unexpired
portions of reinsurance treaties from the ceding company to
the assuming reinsurer. I've never heard of this type of
cession in facultative reinsurance but then I haven't passed
Part 7 either.
