I think what misled me with the example in the study note was the =
coincidence that both formulas actually gave the same answer. =20
I agree that the (1/2 x Ratio x CASE RESERVES) + (Ratio x IBNR Reserves) =
is the correct formula - the other formula didn't make sense anyway.
