> Midwestern Actuarial Forum - Part 7 Seminar
> The Midwestern Actuarial Forum is once again hosting its intensive CAS
> Part 7 review seminar. Sign up now because attendance is limited to 25
> lucky students! The seminar will be held September 25-28 (8am-5pm) at the
> Northbrook Campus of the Allstate Insurance Company. Seasoned CAS review
> seminar veterans Marc Adee and Mark Woods will be returning as
> instructors. In addition to the instructors' notes, we will be
> distributing copies of the 1998 edition of Bob Scott's Prepared Mind note
> packet - a comprehensive summary of all syllabus material as well as
> original sample questions and answers. The price for the full four-day
> seminar is just $450. But wait, there's more...
>
> Of course, the goal of the seminar is to prepare students to pass the
> exam. While the entire syllabus will be covered, lectures and problem
> solving will focus on the new articles and on the more difficult aspects
> of the material - with particular emphasis on comparing and contrasting
> the various papers. Handouts and original problems will be used to
> supplement the study material and prior exam questions.
>
> This course will appeal to students who are experiencing motivational
> problems wading through the many pages of technical reserving and
> accounting information in the syllabus. The instructors will draw on
> their practical, real life experience to make the concepts more concrete
> for those students who do not currently have a working background in
> reserving or statutory accounting.
>
> This class is offered early to give students a head start in their
> studies. Even so, students should read the material in advance and be
> prepared with any thorny questions as class participation is an important
> part of the seminar's success. The limited enrollment seminar approach
> allows students to avoid being 'one of the crowd' as they are encouraged
> to ask questions and engage in lively discussion of the topics.
