Unfortunately, we are not in college anymore. The exam process doesn't
foster the comradery like college to help out your fellow student. The exam
process is a cut-throat process. The CAS has made it this way.
I don't see anything wrong with monitoring this list server. It is a naive
assumption that this list server will increase the number of successful
candidates. HELLO! The CAS is only going to pass a fixed percentage of the
people taking the exam. It used to be about 1/3 of the candidates, and it
has been going down (remember the pass ratio for Part 7 last year?). I'm
going to take every advantage that I can to pass Part 7, and I'm not going
to apologize for it. I wish that we had a fair process to work with, but we
don't. That's the choice of the CAS. If you want to be an actuary, you
have to live by their rules. You can't work to change the CAS unless you
are a Fellow, and you can't be a Fellow unless you pass all of the exams.
