How are you able to determine that the previous test pass mark was 51.5%?

Of course.
What I meant to write was 54% of the points or 32.4 points.
My guess is really 53.5% which is two percent higher than the
previous test
pass mark (51.5%). Personally I thought this material was a little
easier
based on the content of the exam, hence the 2% differential. The
extra
1/2% is a fudge factor to be conservative. If you got 54%, I almost
guarantee you passed. Some people point out that this test had
several
problems which required a large amount of computation, and they are
right.
But the content was almost identical to that on the past several
exams,
maybe a little easier. They didn't have any "off-sylabus" questions
like
the zero-truncated poisson on Fall 97. The really hard questions
were hard
because they involved a ton of calculation. For example the
tic-tac-toe
shooters grid, and the Bayesian question with the Normal density
function.
Some people might have interpreted these as "trap" questions and
skipped
them altogether saving a lot of time for the rest of the test, but
maybe
not.
That's my opinion, but your welcome to it.

It would be helpful if your reponse were a little more complete than
just a
number. Do you mean points out of 60 or as a percentage of available
points?
