The mean residual life of an exponential is 1/lambda.
You were given a marginal distribution and need the density function of
x. Therefore you need to integrate f(x,y) from 0 to infinity with
respect to y.
This will provide you with f(x) = 2e^-2x Lambda equals 2 thus mean
residual life equals 1/2.
