With all due respect, I disagree. Due to the anonymity of the threads of
the website, most, if not all discussions tend to diverge and become a
meaningless waste of time, full of crackpot statements meant to enrage and
shock.

Direct participation is the way to go now that technology has made
it convenient. It is not often that the status-quo answers to
profession-wide issues come up for change. Why not submit them to the whole
membership for a vote?
